Help for willowdale

This page lists what works differently here compared with other MUDs.

Combat:

There are no combat rounds. Every action costs a moment of balance, and
commands you type while off balance queue up and fire in order. Autoattack is
on by default, so you do not need to type attack again.
See help balance and help queue.

Melee weapons move you into melee range, and bows only work outside it. Type
retreat to step back out. See help combat.

At zero health you are downed, and you can still crawl away or bandage
yourself. Death never costs a level, gear or gold. Up to level 5 it costs
no experience either. After that, up to half a level of progress waits where
you fell, and you can go back for it. See help death.

Your character:

You do not pick a class at creation. You choose one by talking to a mentor
at the Academy, and you can switch for free until level 16. At 16 you seal it
at a monument. See help classes.

Gear has no level requirements. Gear above your level gives part of its power
until your level catches up. See help attunement.

Skills cost training points and gold. Ranks stop at 3 until you specialize at
level 30, and passive skills share a few slots.
See help train and help passives.

The world:

Creatures carry no gold. Gold comes from quests, from selling what you find,
and from gathering. See help sell.

There is no hunger or thirst. Food and drink give buffs. See help eat.

NPCs have talk menus. Type talk <name> to see what someone offers. A yellow
[!] means they have something for you. Rumors you hear are saved in your
journal. See help talk and help rumors.

Shops sell by number. Type list, then buy <number>. See help buy.

Your client:

Most output has clickable links, and Mudlet gets a full interface over GMCP.
Type config screenreader on for screen reader mode. See help config.

For the basics of playing a MUD, type help start.
